  • Spring sees a temperature range of between 22°C to 30°C as the months lead closer to summer. It’s the ideal season for outdoor activities like snorkelling with sea lions in the Gulf of California. Enjoy the blooming desert landscapes with hikes to Espíritu Santo Island and taste fresh seafood at local restaurants along the Malecón
  • It can be very hot during the summer months – up to around 35°C or so. Beat the heat with water sports like kayaking and paddleboarding. Explore pristine beaches and enjoy the warm waters for swimming and snorkelling. Experience the vibrant nightlife and cultural festivals
  • During the autumn, temperatures fluctuate from 28°C to 34°C. Between the months of September and November, witness the annual whale shark migration and swim with these gentle giants. Visit local markets for fresh produce and handmade crafts. Take nature tours to explore the desert’s unique flora and fauna
  • For cool and pleasant weather ranging from 18°C to 26°C, head to La Paz in the winter. At this time, you can go whale watching to see grey whales and humpbacks migrating to the area. It’s also a perfect season for hiking and exploring the city’s cultural attractions. Savour traditional Mexican hot beverages and cuisine to stay warm during the evenings

Getting There

Travelling to La Paz from the UK is pretty simple – especially when you combine spending time in Mexico City first as that’s the best connected route.

Flight are available twice daily from London to Mexico City International Airport, and three times a day from there into La Paz Airport.

The international flight into Mexico is just over 11 hours, while the internal flight takes 2 hours 30 minutes.

Alternatively, there are flights from Phoenix and Dallas in the USA getting you to San Jose del Cabo. From November 2024, you will also be able to fly from Los Angeles to La Paz.

  • Entry requirements: When visiting Mexico it’s important to keep in mind that depending on your country of residence, some requirements may apply. Although most of the countries do not require VISA to enter Mexico, it is important to check on your embassy for these requirements
  • Time Zone: GMT-7
  • Currency: Most Mexican tourist destinations widely accept US dollars, but debit or credit cards are also accepted. In La Paz downtown area there are two currency exchange offices that offers fair rates
  • Tipping: Although gratuities are not mandatory, they are expected at restaurants and activities for servers, captains and guides
  • Car hire: Driving is a fun and safe way to explore La Paz and the surroundings. A valid license is required, with credit card details taken as security which might vary depending on the coverage

What's the best way to connect to La Paz?

La Paz offers an international airport connecting with Los Angeles from where you can easily connect to other US markets as well as around the globe, however Los Cabos Airport is also an option.

What's the best time to visit La Paz?

There is no correct answer. Depending on each visitor’s expectations and interests, for example divers prefer warmer clearer months such as October to November, and those who seek wildlife encounters such as grey whales, will visit January to March, but summer is also great to enjoy the beaches.

Are there options for getting around?

Yes, depending on the visitor they can choose from renting a car and move by themselves freely, arranging private transportation or taking tours where transfers are included.

Are there "All-Inclusive" options in La Paz?

No. With so much nature, Natural Protected Areas, wildlife and activities to choose from, La Paz hotels offer bed & breakfast, buffet options and meal plans such as half board but no All-Inclusive.
